Disclaimer this is a highly interactive class My name is Teacher Phoebe and I have always wanted to create an etiquette class for young girls and boys to pass on the gifts of my very unique upbringing. I have had a very international life and lived and worked in many different countries but I was brought up in a traditional English family. It wasn't until I was much older that I realized not everybody knew all the rules of a formal dinner party at eight years old! The fundamentals of etiquette are a life skill that will open many doors for young people when they apply to college, pursue a career and from my personal experience if they travel or work abroad they will be defter at picking up cultural niches in the countries they visit and be accepted more warmly and graciously by new friends and International employers alike. I also want young people to feel more confident in their skin and improve their communication skills, being a teenager is incredibly difficult and the pandemic has meant that our social skills have been reduced, what a perfect opportunity to revive them! This is a four-week-long course designed to fit around your son or daughter's busy schedule. Each week focuses on a different theme. Week One Making an Impression and Developing Relationships In the first week, I will give students a little information about myself and how I came to know about the rules of etiquette, we will discover the basic principles of being polite and well mannered and how we can apply them to our day-to-day lives. This lesson includes video clips and scenarios to ensure you make a good first impression but also the art of cultivating mystery and the correct protocol when it comes to asking and answering questions. Students will be given an assignment that will be due exactly one week after the class has taken place. The assignment given is social scenarios and how to keep calm and leave a good impression, especially when the person in question is being troublesome or even rude! Each student is given ten social scenarios they must complete before the next lesson and the best people to discuss your new social skills with are your classmates! Practice introducing yourselves, your passions, your personal story in an intriguingly refreshing way. Meeting new people is always an opportunity to make friends, we will also cover how to seek out people who are interested in the same things as us. Week Two Cultivating Poise Posture is such an important part of etiquette, so much so that it takes an entire hour to Teach and an entire lifetime to perfect! Maintaining perfect posture throughout the day is so important for your health, the structure of your spine and nothing makes you look more striking and confident. This lesson includes the 'posture Olympics where each student must complete a series of tasks while maintaining good posture, how do we ensure this? They must learn to balance a book on their head for the entire lesson! Students will be given an assignment that will be due exactly one week after the class has taken place. The assignment involves a cheat sheet of activities they must be able to complete whilst maintaining good posture, they must do book balance training for one hour per day and ensure they can complete activities with a straight back. They must communicate with classmates and include images and videos, I would like each student to write about what they have learned from the activity and the importance of a good posture. Week Three Dining Etiquette In this class we will learn how to eat correctly in a formal setting, taught from my very own dining room table in my home I will show you how to hold glasses and cups correctly, pouring, serving, and stirring your tea. How to hold a knife and fork correctly, how to use a cloth napkin, flower arrangement, and how to set a table for dinner. I will also teach your son or daughter how to host a dinner party for your friends and how to behave in a formal setting. This is a really fun opportunity for your son or daughter to create her very own dinner party to which she adds her own personality. Students will be given an assignment that will be due exactly one week after the class has taken place. The students will each create their own fantasy dinner party plan which is to be submitted before the next class in which they must plan a menu, choose games to play and of course their fantasy guest list of celebrities! Students in this class love communicating with each other about which appetizer they will prepare or what they plan to serve Harry Styles for dinner. Week Four Grooming and Cultivating your Image Not everyone wants to look the same, I feel this is an important lesson for young people, your appearance is something that will change frequently over time. In this class, I will be showing personal examples of my own wardrobe, who my style icons are, and curating an entire week's worth of looks, students love interacting with each other and discussing their ideas. I feel like this is an important thing to focus on especially in lockdown, appearance can really help you to with your self-esteem and you should dress up when leaving the house even if it is just to go on a walk with your friend or buy a bottle of milk. Students will be given an assignment that will be due exactly one week after the class has taken place. We will also look at creating a fun but luxurious regimen that ensures your daughter or son takes care of themselves even when they have an overwhelming amount of school work. Students must submit their personal beauty regimen and week of planned outfits before the end of the week in order to complete the course. I can't wait to see your individual beauty regimen and all of your outfits you have planned for the week!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello Parents and Students of Outschool
I have been creating my own unique classes online for just under a year and I have met so many wonderful young people from all over the world! I am so happy that I have received kind emails from parents and students, this truly has become a passion project for me and one I look forward to every day.
My most successful course by far has been my online finishing school which has had incredibly positive feedback from parents and students. It has encouraged me to continue working on this platform as it is such a joy helping young people with their confidence.
I have had many neurodivergent students enroll in my classes and it has really helped them with social anxiety and interacting with their peers in a public setting.
Finishing schools are typically very exclusive and can cost $30,000 for a six-week course! I want to give as many young people as possible the ability to see how many doors in life can be opened with poise and good manners. Finishing schools of the past were sometimes thought of as places where you only went to learn how to find a husband but this was not the case. My headteacher was a formidable woman with Edwardian sensibilities but she made it very clear that the skills we learned in her school were a gift to us to benefit us and enhance the quality of our lives.
It is true that in this day and age women who are fortunate enough to attend finishing schools do so to further their careers and improve their public speaking skills. When I left school I started working abroad and was pleasantly surprised to find my traditional English manners made me defter at picking up cultural customs of foreign countries this, in turn, meant I was warmly accepted in my workplace for being so observant and considerate. I made friends quickly and was able to advance at a young age.
This class is perfect if you want your son or daughter to increase their confidence, and interact more naturally with other people, and of course, I consider etiquette to have some elements of a social self-defense class that gives young people the skills to uphold boundaries under social pressure.
I feel I am in a very fortunate position to be able to teach this class and I am planning to continue for the rest of the year.
I look forward to meeting your son or daughter and many wonderful students this Spring.
Kind regards
Phoebe
