Class Experience

Welcome to the Painting Panda Classroom: FINGER PAINTING Club!!! This is Part 7 of 12.

I love feeling the cool thick acrylic paint almost float across my canvas. I love feeling the thin wet liquid paint drip and splatter all over my canvas. I love feeling wet paper get a little warmer when I press my finger tip to it lifting off wet watercolor paint. Painting with our fingers isn't just with acrylic, tempera, washable gel paint. We can finger paint with many different types of mediums.

Join me on this super fun, kinda messy, very creative class as we explore different art mediums (mediums= tools used for art like paint, pastels, etc). Each Tuesday I will post the instructional videos no later than 5pm. Each Thursday I will post any of the following: a Q&A, tip video customized to the students in each class, an interactive video. These are to add more interaction to the class, and can be answered, but I do know that with this age range parents are going to be highly involved, so do what you can. Saturdays are art submission days, where I'll ask for each student to submit an image of their art for the week, comment on their classmate's work in a positive manner, and I'll critique and give comments about each student's art in their individual emails.

Parents, you will more than likely be helping your learners with these projects, to help facilitate the paint so there is less mess, and more fun!

Here is what we will be working on for Part 7. I want to do a theme for this class, which will be Safari creatures.
Week 1: Zebra
Week 2: Alligator
Week 3: Ostrich
Week 4: Elephant

Parental Guidance
Parents may need to help their learner set up, watch, and do the projects so there is less mess, and more fun. Especially if the student is watching the video and doing the project at the same time. Don't want paint all over a device, or splattered all over the table or floor. If this is your learner's first Outschool class I recommend getting familiar with the Zoom interface and platform before the class starts. Outschool has a few articles and videos that can help. Unfortunately I am really unable to deal with any technical issues once class has begun and if you are experiencing issues, it's best to contact technical support at Outschool directly via the HELP tab on the website. https://support.outschool.com/en/articles/2133758-live-class-troubleshooting-tips-for-parents https://support.outschool.com/en/articles/802757-tips-for-your-first-outschool-class Hi parents, I have created a really fun interactive classroom through google sheets for one of our extra parts to class. This classroom has images of my own finger painted, and other beautiful art that the students get to click on for a fun game or video. The videos are links to youtube videos (some are my own, and others are from kid friendly paint themed resources). I have done everything on my end to remove ads, however if you need to do something on your end to remove ads, or stop other videos from playing after the initial one I have linked please have those settings already in place, otherwise you can view along side your child. This is an optional extra your child can participate in, that is really fun.
Supply List
Table cloth or something to protect your space
Smock for student to protect clothing
4 11x14 or 8x10 canvases or canvas boards (the canvas boards will have a slightly different affect, because it won't allow light to shine through the backside of the canvas bringing extra brightness to the work of art.)
Acrylic paint (white, yellow, orange, blue, purple, pink, green, red, black, brown) We will use a lot of white
Paper towels or baby wipes or a re-usable rag
Black Sharpie marker

Teacher expertise and credentials
This has been one of my most favorite classes to create. I love teaching painting, especially acrylic! This medium allows so much flexibility, and is easy to correct! My favorite part about teaching art classes is when I get to see the world through the eyes of the students by viewing their works of art. Being able to experience the paint, not just use it is something that I feel really unlocks the brain's power to be imaginative, creative, and confident in one's self with their style of art.

As mentioned in my teacher profile I have 10 years of experience teaching early education pre-K classes, in both North Carolina and Utah. I have been able to use my degrees in Visual Arts with a focus on Art History from NCSU and my Associate in Arts from Wake Tech Community College, to teach kids and adults: various art classes here in North Carolina for the past 7 years. With my scouting connections I have had 5 years experience teaching science and history classes in North Carolina and Florida. Whether it was as a Co-Op teacher for my local home school groups, Art merit Badge Counselor for the local Boy Scout clinic, teaching STEAM classes for Cub Scouts, Nail art and Jewelry Crafting to teenage girls in my church, or summer art classes through my business, The Painting Panda, I love being able to share what I have learned!
