Description
Class Experience
Students will learn about the following: 1. The qualities that make someone a hero/heroine. 2. There is a hero/heroine within every person. 3. Some of the basic elements of a comic.
Finding the Hero in You is a course I created and have taught since 2013. I have taught this class for students in various settings including a Washington, DC public charter school, homeschool co-op and online classes. The premise is that a hero/heroine is someone who sees a problem or challenge in the world and takes action to tackle the issue. I am excited to bring this course to the Outschool platform to inspire more young people to discover their inner heroes/heroines and create solutions for the world's challenges!
To participate in this workshop, students will need basic art supplies including: pencils, crayons, colored pencils, markers, a ruler, writing paper/notebook and plain white paper (or light colored construction paper).
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
During the class, I will refer to a biography about Malala Yousafzai. The book is entitled Malala- A Hero for All and is authored by Shana Corey.
