Class Experience

Students will first understand the difference between perimeter and area by creating a visual representation. They will then find the perimeter of a few shapes. Students will then move on to finding the area of squares and rectangles and learn why the formulas for these shapes are similar. Students will demonstrate comprehension by solving a few problems. We will then move on to finding the are of a triangle. Students will learn how this formula differs from others and why it does. Students will show comprehension by solving a few problem. To conclude the lesson students will solve 5 word problems involving area and perimeter of the shapes covered. Students will leave the class with notes to use in the future.
