As a group we will watch clips of CNBC financial television, answer questions and gain a firm understanding to be confident about discussing investments. We will breakdown financial television in order to better understand the stock market and economics. I use a combination of video clips, slides, stories, analogies and more to engage with students and show them how investments are involved in our everyday lives. In this class, students will: - Film Study: Watch a few financial TV segments as a group - Quickly break down the details into digestible information - Understand the economic vocabulary (Cheat Sheet provided) - Learn patterns in investment news - Pick up on Key Features - Review Economic Calendar - Understand the Effects of Company News And More! This course functions as an intro to my in-depth stock and investing course where students spend 4 weeks learning and investing virtual money in the stock market!
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding of stock market components, investment risk, market indexes, financial analysis and economic behavior. This class is an introduction to several financial instruments and how everything comes together as an economy. A two page financial tv guide/cheat sheet will be provided to help students when they watch financial networks in the future.
