This single-day, overview course provides an opportunity for students to understand the many steps involved in creating successful films, and also serves as an intro to more targeted as well as advanced film courses offered by Ms. Torlucci. The most important aspects of successful film production, as well as a few key tips will be shared regarding the essentials: adequately planning your project; proper lighting, framing, and stability; editing programs; and audio sources; as well as teaching about copyright infringement. Students will be welcomed to share their own experiences--successes and pitfalls--with making films. The instructor will demonstrate "best practice" techniques for students as well as provide a helpful handout to use when shooting their own films.

I have been teaching iMovie for nearly 15 years, and my middle school students frequently win local and state-wide film competitions, largely attributed to their skillful use of many of iMovie's tools that take their student films to much more mature, advanced levels that rival their peers.
