Class Experience

This class will be taught lecture style with opportunities for student to participate in discussions as and when they feel comfortable to do so. This one-hour class will be packed with cool facts, age appropriate photos and video clips to showcase the amazing styles and techniques used by cinematographers to create stunning movie images. We will also focus on learning the cinematic vocabulary of what make up the different shots, camera angles and camera movements. We will also look at the role of color and lighting in film shots to create specific moods. At the end of the class, students will be asked to create some of these camera angles/ movements using the cameras on their own devices - phones/iPads/chrome books OR they can sketch thrift shot ideas on paper using the technique of storyboarding that I will teach in class. It is absolutely ok to not have these devices, the important thing is to be able to think of these cinematic concepts and learn to plan for them.

No prior knowledge is needed but a curious mind is a must!
