*En español (abajo) Skillabration’s Beginning Level English class is designed to help Spanish-speaking students develop a strong foundation in English through an organized, engaging, and compassionate learning environment. Our experienced, bilingual teachers have expertise in teaching both English and Spanish, ensuring that lessons are clear and accessible. We are here to make every student feel comfortable and supported as they begin their journey in learning English. What Will Be Taught? In this class, students will learn essential English vocabulary, grammar basics, and common phrases that will help them communicate confidently in everyday situations. Topics Covered Our topics are practical and designed to build a strong foundational knowledge of English, including: - Vocabulary related to everyday topics such as weather, family, pastimes, and food - Grammar fundamentals, like forming sentences, basic verb conjugations, and using nouns, pronouns, and adjectives - Basic Conversation Skills to help students engage in simple, practical conversations about their daily lives Class Structure Our class is thoughtfully organized yet highly engaging. Lessons are broken into bite-sized sections to keep learning fun and manageable. Each class is structured to include: - A brief lecture on the topic - Interactive slides and video clips - Group games to reinforce vocabulary - Open discussions to practice conversation Teaching Tools and Style Skillabration uses Nearpod (see Parental Guidance below) for interactive presentations and the Zoom whiteboard and chat box for live participation, encouraging students to ask questions, practice vocabulary, and share ideas. Our teachers are engaging, patient, and compassionate. We understand the challenges of learning a new language and work hard to make students feel comfortable and confident in their progress. Student Interaction Students will have plenty of opportunities to interact with the teacher and classmates through discussions, games, and collaborative activities. Parental Guidance
We use Nearpod, which is an Outschool approved resource. On Nearpod there are interactive slides for students to practice during the lesson. You don't need an account to join. The teacher will share a link in class that allows the learner to join during the live class.
We also screen share Google Slides for some lessons. Student's don't need a Gmail for this, we will just share the screen on Zoom.

Spanish Teacher Cecilia:
Cecilia is a native Spanish speaker. She learned Spanish and English simultaneously because both of her parents were born in Mexico and she was born and raised in Chicago.
She has taught Spanish 1 & 2 since 2017 at the middle school level. She studied abroad in Barcelona for half a year and loved learning about the Spanish language through a different perspective. She has a Bachelor of Arts in teaching of Spanish from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She is very passionate about teaching Spanish through her culture and giving students the opportunity to learn to love the Spanish language.

Spanish Teacher Laura:
Laura holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Foreign Languages and a Graduate Certificate in Spanish Language Education. Originally from Colombia, she has been teaching English, French, and Spanish as a second language both in the USA and her home country since 2018, across various educational levels from kindergarten to adult in private and public schools.
She is very creative and passionate about languages and cultures, Laura strives to immerse students in the Spanish language while sharing her Latino cultural traditions, customs, and holidays alongside those of other Hispanic countries.

Spanish Teacher Nikki
Nikki is the founder of Skillabration. She has been teaching since 2005. She graduated with a bachelor's in Spanish and a master's in education with a focus in Spanish.
In 2016 she shifted from public school teaching to teaching online full-time for more freedom and creativity in her work. She taught ESL online from 2016-2020 and shifted to teaching Spanish on Outschool in late 2020. She also taught high school Spanish from 2005-2009, and 2011-2012. She was a middle school bilingual/Spanish/English immersion teacher from 2012-2016.
Nikki has had countless experiences traveling to Mexico. She did a cultural exchange for six weeks in Cuautitlan Izcalli in the State of Mexico when she was just 15 years old. She also studied abroad in San Sebastian, Spain for three months the summer before her junior year in college.
