Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I'm Sierra Wright, and I specialize in teaching Elementary Math. I have a Bachelor of Science degree, with active teaching licenses in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. With over seven years of teaching experience—three years in traditional schools and four years in online public schools—I’ve developed a deep passion for helping students not only grasp math concepts but also build a love for learning.
My teaching philosophy is simple: Learning should be fun and engaging! I believe that with a more interactive, "gamified" approach, students can develop a lifelong joy for learning, while also building the confidence they need to continue improving. I am dedicated to making math accessible to all students, whether they're performing below or above grade level. By recognizing the common (and not so common) challenges students face when learning new skills, I’m able to provide them with effective strategies to grasp even the most difficult concepts.
I truly believe that every child has the potential to learn—just in their own time and way. My goal is to create a nurturing, supportive environment where every student feels confident tackling challenges. As a highly qualified teacher, I am committed to helping your child build the skills they need to succeed.
On a personal note, I was the first in my entire family to attend college, and as a first-generation college student, I understand the unique struggles students face in their academic journeys. Watching my mom do everything she could to ensure her children had opportunities for a better future has inspired my dedication to supporting students and families. I know how valuable it is to provide additional resources to help children grow academically, and I am honored to be part of that process in your child's educational journey.
If you find a course that interests you but the current schedule doesn't work for your child, please don't hesitate to reach out. I am happy to consider requests for alternate times or days. While I cannot guarantee availability, I will do my best to accommodate your needs and provide a schedule that works for you.
