Class Experience

Hello and welcome to Fashion Through the Ages!

If you love fashion, then this is the class for you. I wanted to be a fashion designer when I was younger. I grew up in England and loved going to material stores and just feeling the material and thinking of designs that I could draw.
So come with me on a journey each week: we will look at different styles, what inspired those designs, and what has changed through the years.

Week 1: How fashion has changed throughout the years: How has that impacted how fashion is today?
--Homework: What era in fashion do you like the best?

Week 2: How did Princess Diana change fashion?
--Homework. Do accessories really matter?

Week 3: Fashion in war time Britain.
--Homework: Why do you think fashion plays such an important part in our lives?

Week 4: Famous fashion designers. Can you make your own fashion designs and impact the world you live in?

To all students and parents: Although I give homework, please do not feel pressured that you have to do it. The biggest thing that I want you to take from this class is to have fun. So Homework is optional.
*Also you can request a new time if you need a different time slot.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I loved fashion as a child: I would draw nearly every day. My Godmother encouraged me to draw every single day, and I would scribble my designs. I loved walking around Liberties in London, and I would look at fabric and be inspired to come up with a design. I want to inspire others that to be an individual in how we dress is a creative choice and that we can learn from the past and use designers' designs from the past to create a new era of fashion.
