Class Experience

Are you interested in fashion? Do you like being creative while you learn? This is the history class for you!

This ongoing course is a great option for students who have taken some of my one-time classes and don't want to repeat. You can drop in and out with your interests or to avoid taking the same course again. Each class is completely standalone!

In the first 10-30 minutes, students will be introduced to the ancient civilization of the week. Then, we will discuss ancient fashion and makeup styles. They will be shown pictures with a discussion of colors, their sources, and other interesting facts. We also will discuss how we know what they wore in the past. I teach in an open lecture style, where I go through engaging slides, stories, and information. Students are asked questions throughout and are encouraged to ask questions of me at any time.

Then about for 20-30 minutes, students will be able to style their own ancient people with provided paper dolls or drawing freestyle! During this time, I will answer any and all questions they have about archaeology and the civilization of the day. Students are encouraged to chit-chat with each other if they would like to get a break from all the content. If there are no questions, learners can socialize, help each other with ideas, and hear stories of the ancient world from Alexa.

In the last 5-10 minutes, students will share their masterpieces with the class. We will reflect on what we learned and ask any last-minute questions.

I had an artist create paper dolls specifically for our class! They will be distributed on the Monday evening before each class in our classroom after the refund period is up. It is not required to use these dolls as many students prefer doing them freestyle!
