In this 4-week course, learners will practice creating their own designs using a variety of sketching techniques used by fashion designers. Students will learn the difference between a flat sketch, an illustration, and a thumbnail sketch. We will discuss when designers use these different sketches in the development process and why. We will finish the course by designing and sketching our own capsule collections. This class will focus on the real-world application of sketching and insider tips and tricks for communicating design ideas. Croquis pages will be provided each week for guidance. This class is perfect for anyone who is interested in fashion design and wants to learn how fashion designers approach sketching in their day-to-day collection development.

Week 1 - Thumbnail Sketches
Week 2 - Illustrations

Week 4 - Sketching a Capsule Collection

At the end of each lesson, learners will be expected to upload at least one sketch to the classroom page utilizing the sketch technique of the week. I will be working alongside everyone, giving feedback, offering ideas, and helping along the way! 

Please Note:
This course has NO LIVE MEETINGS. This allows learners to work at any time throughout the course, but please make sure to post each week's assignment within the given week. I will be actively engaging with learners in the "Classroom" tab and can always be reached there or through direct message!
