Learn all about swimwear and then try your hand at designing your own. We will discuss; -Trends in swimwear from history to present -What people look for in a swim suit -The kinds of fabrics used in swimwear -The different cuts and shapes of swimwear, from one pieces to bikinis. -When stores sell bathing suits and why Then we'll spend time designing swim suits under different constraints, such as for a resort vacation or a summer barbeque. I recommend that students take Fashion 101 before or during this class, or have some experience with drawing fashion.

Parental Guidance
We will be drawing on a nude female form called a croquis. We will also be looking at different kinds of bathing suits, including bikinis. We won't look at anything too skimpy, nor will students be instructed to design a bikini, but we will look at some examples.
Supply List
Paper Fashion body (from fashion 101 or a printed figure) Anything you like to color with A thin black marker for outlining, such as an ultra fine sharpie

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

After the basics, swimwear was the first specialty fashion I learned to design for. The fabrics are generally smooth, so it's a great exercise in color and shape without worrying about texture. I've been teaching fashion design for over 5 years.
