This weekly fall book club has a familiar and friendly Storytime and circle time feel! It is designed to foster a growing learner's love for reading, all while boosting socialization, English language arts, and literacy skills. Here, we'll also celebrate fall and fun themes! Enjoy an engaging weekly focus and two new Storytime books to read each week, with the running book list featured in the Syllabus section of the course. Week 1Lesson 1Exploring OwlsWe will discuss owls, share “flying” toys or stuffed animals, and read "Owl Babies" by Martin Waddell and "Little Owl's Night" by Divya SrinivisanWeek 2Lesson 2Walking Through GardensWe will talk about the importance of gardens and fresh produce, learn about how apples grow, share our favorite fruits and veggies, and read the books, How Do Apples Grow? by Betsy Maestro and "Backyard Bugs" by Jill McDonaldWeek 3Lesson 3Discovering Trees and Fall LeavesWe will examine how trees change in fall, examine and share leaves, talk about animals that live in trees, and read the two books, "The Leaf Thief" by Alice Hemming and "Hush!" by Mingfong HoWeek 4Lesson 4Wonders of WeatherWe'll discuss different types of weather, talk about our favorite weather, see how it's looking outside, and read the books, "Weather" by Jill McDonald and "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" by Judi BarrettWeek 5Lesson 5All About Trains and VehiclesWe will talk about trains, share our favorite moving vehicles, and read "The Little Engine That Could" by Watty Piper and "Thomas and the Dinosaur" by Christopher AwdryWeek 6Lesson 6Loving Planet EarthWe will talk about the beauty of planet Earth and discuss its treasures, like rocks and minerals! - Students will learn how to socialize, share, and communicate in a positive, respectful manner with children in their age group.
- Students will explore their world through sensory and imagery.
- Students will enhance reading comprehension and vocabulary.
- Students will enhance information recall, practice answering questions, demonstrate knowledge of beginning literary concepts of print books, and learn how to describe main characters and setting.
- Students will learn new facts about their world.
I have a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Central Florida, I am an experienced teacher and teacher's assistant at the pre-K and elementary level, I have a creative writing instructor certificate from the University of Central Florida, and I am a homeschool parent/teacher to an elementary-aged child.
