What's included
1 live meeting
55 mins in-class hours per weekHomework
1 hour per week. Sometimes, the students will have to finish their treats after class (like icing a cake that has to cool for some time, etc.) Other than that, the only homework is eating the delicious treats.Class Experience
In this ongoing, fall baking class, students will meet once a week and learn to bake something fall inspired! Your child will learn all the ins and outs to baking the BEST desserts and treats you have ever had! We will cover some of the technicalities behind baking, different elements that can completely make or break your food, and students will learn valuable cooking skills that they will use for the rest of their lives. I will be baking along side your children, showing them each step, and problem solving with them when things don't go as planned. Each week we will bake something that I have planned (a list is below). Sometimes, students will have the option to customize their treats how they would like, for example, by adding different things to their desserts or using different spices and flavorings. This class will not only teach your child the basics of baking these delicious treats, but also how to change things up and experiment with ingredients. Students do not need to have prior baking knowledge, as they will learn as they go, but they should be able to operate kitchen equipment (oven, stovetop, electric mixers), or have a parent to help them during class. Week 1: Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes Week 2: Apple dumplings Week 3: Pumpkin OR apple mini cheesecakes Week 4: Pumpkin roll cake Week 5: Pumpkin OR Pecan Pie Week 6 : Pumpkin OR Apple Cinnamon Scones Week 8: Pumpkin OR apple muffins Week 9: pumpkin snickerdoodles **Baking is a science, so the ingredients are important. If you need a substitution for an ingredient, PLEASE reach out to the teacher and ask. Most things can be substituted but some cannot, and that can cause your baked good to not turn out well. I will post the recipes after class each week. *If your child is interested in baking, but they don't like the treats listed in this class, check out my Kids in the Kitchen: An Ongoing Semester Long Baking Camp for Your Young Chefs.
