Class Experience

Hello bakers! In this club, young bakers will participate and learn how to make a new dessert every other week! We will learn how to make a variety of desserts that will be ready for you to eat after each class! Ingredients needed for class will be shared at least 3 days before each classtime in the supply list section of the class description as well as in the classroom page.

During class, Mrs. O will show the students how to create the dessert with step-by-step instructions while we bake together. They will get to socialize with other bakers in their age group and create new recipes to share with their family and friends.

After our main desserts are created, we will step it up a notch to turn our desserts into a masterpiece. Mrs. O will show the students how to take their desserts to the next-level with toppings, decorations, or new flavors! This is our "Nailed It!" inspired part of class where students are encouraged to be creative with their desserts and have FUN!

All levels are welcome as long as the student is able to use kitchen utensils (measuring spoons, cups, mixer, etc.), the microwave, and oven. Please note, there will be times when assistance may be necessary for younger bakers, especially if we are using the stove.

I love the premise of the show "Nailed It" since I love to create intricate baked goods, and I've learned that sometimes they don't turn out perfectly. Even if students are not experienced in the kitchen, we will "fake it til we bake it"!

Please note, some classes may take longer than the 50 minutes and some may not take the whole time. It just depends on what we bake and how many students are signed up. Most recipes will take at least 40-50 minutes to complete.

Parental Guidance
This is a hands-on baking club! Each student will need to able to use kitchen utensils (mixers, measuring utensils, spatulas, etc.) and the microwave, oven and stove (on occasion). Please make sure your student is able to use these independently, OR plan on being present to provide assistance. My main goal is for each learner to have fun and learn something new in a safe way.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! Thank you for showing interest in my classes. I was a 4th grade reading and writing teacher for 2.5 years and have experience teaching in-person and virtually. I have a degree in Journalism with an emphasis on Advertising and I am a certified teacher in Texas for all core subjects for students aged early childhood through 6th grade. I have also earned my teaching certification in ESL (English as a Second Language) and have completed professional trainings to teach AVID and GT (gifted/talented) students. I love sharing my joy of reading and helping students expand their reading skills through projects and book studies! When I'm not sharing my joy of reading or my tried & true writing techniques, I am usually baking, watching movies, or practicing yoga.

Speaking of baking, I have spent years taking college and bakery-sponsored classes to learn how to make and decorate cakes, cupcakes, cake balls, and cocoa bombs. I love baking and sharing this passion with others! What better way to show someone you care than by making them a baked good?

Please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have and I will get back to you. I am so excited to meet your student and help them learn!
