Welcome to our Fairy Tale Remix Workshop, a magical fairy tale writing class designed especially for elementary students! In this engaging and fun four-week workshop, young storytellers will embark on a journey to create their own enchanting fairy tales by remixing well-known classics. Through interactive activities, collaborative discussions, and imaginative exercises, students will learn the structure of fairy tales and the creative process of writing. The class meets twice a week over four weeks, allowing ample time for exploration and refinement of their whimsical tales. Week 1: Discovering the Magic Day 1: Introduction to Fairy Tales. Brief overview of classic fairy tales and their elements. Discussion on the magic of storytelling. Day 2: Exploration of various characters, settings, and objects in fairy tales. Group brainstorming to select key elements for our own tales. Introduction to the basic structure of a fairy tale. Week 2: Transforming Characters and Settings Day 1: Character Makeover- Discussion on character traits and archetypes. Drawing our potential characters. Developing the characters of our fairy tales. Day 2: Magical Settings- Exploration of different settings in fairy tales. Group discussion on how settings impact the story. Create maps of our fairy tale worlds. Week 3: Crafting Enchanting Plots Day 1: Plotting our Adventures- Introduction to the three-act structure of a story. Group brainstorming for the main plot points of our fairy tales. Drafting the beginning of our tales. Day 2: Discussion on plot twists and unexpected events in fairy tales. Group activity: introducing challenges and obstacles for the characters. Adding a plot twist to our own tales. Week 4: Crafting Magical Narratives Day 1: Happily Ever After- Examining the endings of fairy tales. Group discussion on how to end our fairy tales. Drafting the ending of our tales. Day 2: Bringing Tales to Life- Illustrating our fairy tales. Sharing our final fairy tales with the class.
