Class Experience
In this six week flexible schedule drawing program we will explore the fundamentals of drawing people. Each week learners will be able to find teacher videos that include demonstration, how to, and/or lectures. Learners will also find reference materials in the classroom. Learners will be expected to share drawings by posting in the classroom each week and will be encouraged to participate in ongoing discussions and assignments as well as teacher lead peer critique. Teacher interaction will be high and personalized based on participation and completed assignments/exercises. Teacher and learner interaction will take place in the outschool classroom. The teacher will initiate and participate in discussions, feedback, response videos, and image submissions in response to learner participation. You can expect the teacher to follow along with your progress and respond to all participation. Learners will be expected to participate weekly to advance through the program effectively and received the personalized attention. Week One: Faces - A look at drawing faces using fundamentals such as proportion, measurements, and value. Week Two: Faces - Breaking down the parts of the face - eyes, ears, nose, mouth, hair. Week Three: Faces - Drawing facial expressions Week Four: Hands - Using shapes and movement to draw the hands. Week Five: Feet - Drawing feet for figures using shapes and movement. Week Six : Summary Week - Drawing figures focusing on the previously explored faces, hands, and feet. Learners should have an interest in drawing and previous drawing experience is welcome but not required.

For this course learners will want to have: A sketchbook no smaller than 8x10 Pencils (any of the following are fine 2h , hb , 2b, mechanical ) White Erasers Optional materials include : Charcoal or conte Gum eraser Drawing board

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

----> Mrs. Ross will be running self paced courses through Summer 2024. Mrs. Ross's live classes, lessons, and tutoring for the 2024/25 school year will begin during the second week of September. Spots are filling up so please inquire as early as possible. Fall schedule will be solidified Mid August for the following fall term.

Sharon is a professional fine artist/illustrator who has been teaching studio curriculum on Outschool for 5 years . Prior to bringing her art and art technique programs to Outschool she taught in schools, community centers, and private studios dating back to 2006.
Sharon has illustrated FOUR published children’s books, as well as a few that never made it to print. Check out her newest picture book "Refin Builds A Rocket Ship".
When she isn’t sharing her passion for the arts with learners on Outschool Sharon is creating work in as many different mediums as she can get her hands on.. Sharon's classes are rooted in Reggio philosophies and strives to equip learners with the tools they need to be successful in AND outside the classroom.
