Class Experience

Please Note: There is a 30 minute version of this class located below. Both versions discuss the same birds (though the 30 minute discusses 2 birds each class) so it would be beneficial to reach out if you are interested in switching from the 30 minute to 45 minute version (or vice versa) to inquire if there is any overlap.

---

There will be ten classes of three birds each before the sessions repeat.

---

The diversity within the world of birds is astounding. In this ongoing class, we will dive into this world by exploring three unique birds each week. Some birds are famous for an amazing quality such as the speed of the peregrine falcon or the colouration of the blue-footed booby’s feet. Others are more uncommon to talk about such as the king vulture or the hoatzin.

Each week, we will briefly discuss and learn about three amazing birds and cycle through the ten weeks. This class will be more of a lecture style (yet interactive) class with a PowerPoint, photos, videos, and fascinating facts. We will have conversations about these creatures and students are encouraged to ask questions and discuss (although are also welcome to just absorb the information if they prefer).

At the end of each class, we will play a short trivia game about what we’ve learned! Answers are sent privately and the game is optional so there is no pressure for learners.

Having worked with many birds including owls, ravens, hawks, and kookaburras, I will also be using personal experiences within the content when I can!

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have a strong passion for animals and have even worked with many birds such as birds of prey, ravens, toucanets and kookaburras. I love getting others excited about the animal kingdom and feel as though I can approach this topic with a lot of fun and excitement for the learners.
