Class Experience

This will be a fun and informative class/club for anyone who is interested in Pokémon. Each week I will start with a reminder of my rules (1. Try not to talk over each other, 2. ALWAYS use kind language.) Next, I will open the floor for anyone who would like to share. The dynamic of each section will vary slightly based on the students who are enrolled. For students who are primarily interested in card collecting, we can share the love of cards, look up the prices that they recently sold for, compare stats, etc. When students are primarily interested in the video games, we might share Pokemon Go codes (with parental permission) and raid local gyms, battle each other in Pokemon Unite or even give each tips for how to complete tasks in any of the games.

The students are not required to have any previous knowledge for this class and while students will be encouraged to share nobody will be forced and students are welcome to join just to learn from others as well!

PLEASE NOTE: I do allow the conversation to be student led and will discuss any aspect of Pokemon that the student finds interesting.

Learning Goals

Through our conversations students will develop socioemotional skills such as:
• Self-control
• Expressing feelings with words
• Listening and paying attention
• Pride in accomplishments
• Positive self image
• Asking for help when needed
• Showing affection to familiar people
• Aware of other peoples feelings

Presenting to the group will also give them an opportunity to practice effective public speaking skills.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I'm a homeschool mother of 5 who studied elementary education. I'm excited to bring my experience and knowledge to every class. My classes include a range of topics from Black History to Recycled Art to comparing books to the movies they've inspired and so much more! I enjoy seeing my students light up as they learn concepts and ideas that are new to them.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, playing Pokemon with my kids and baking!
