Exploring Your World Circle Time; Science for Kindergartners

Get ready to explore the world around you in this circle time adventure! Each week students will learn a different theme covering many different science topics. I love incorporating themes as it provides a fun way for learning and for students to learn about the world around them. 

We will start class with a hello song and question of the day to work on social skills, to introduce our topic, and to find out students’ prior knowledge of our theme for the week. I find it very important for students to have the opportunity to participate and share to develop effective social skills and this is also why I like to keep my class sizes small. Building relationships and social skills are two very important skills for young learners to develop and in this circle time your learner will make friends while learning. As we learn about our theme of the week students will be engaged with a visual presentation and the use of books. Then it will be time to move with a brain break to get our wiggles out. 

The next part of class will be activity time. Though some weeks will require a simple printable that will be in the classroom for download most weeks activity will require the use of paper and coloring utensils. With our activity we will be reinforcing the information learned in class. These activities will often stretch over to other content areas such as math and language arts as we combine the science theme with fun and engaging activities. All information for weekly activities will be posted in the classroom. 

We will end class with a finger play or song related to the theme to review our learning and sing a goodbye song. No prior knowledge is needed for this class. As we explore different science topics this class is perfect for kindergartners as it covers the science standards for kindergarten.
