Welcome to our Camp: Exploring Music in Video Games! In this camp we’ll walk through the different eras of video game music and see how it evolved over time. If you have a passion for music and video games, this is the camp for you! Each day will be a different focus in time or genre to understand how the music best fits the games and how technology has changed the video game music industry. Come join Miss Julie, our resident music teacher, as she takes you through the musical world to help bring games to life. Day 1: Dive into the nostalgic realm of early 8-bit music as we set the tone for our musical journey. Discover the iconic motifs and melodies that defined a generation, from classics like PAC-Man, Tetris, Super Mario Bros, Donkey Kong, to the adrenaline-pumping beats of various arcade games. Day 2: Transport yourself to the magical era of 90s music in video games. Explore the enchanting scores of The Legend of Zelda, the epic soundtracks of Final Fantasy, the catchy tunes of Pokémon, the quirky melodies of Earthbound, and the high-speed tracks of Sonic and many more! Day 3: Get ready to groove as we explore the rise of rhythm games! From Dance Dance Revolution to Rock Band and Guitar Hero, experience the evolution of interactive music. Dive into the sounds of the early 2010s with games like Animal Crossing, Kingdom Hearts, Minecraft, and more. Day 4: Explore the cutting-edge sounds of today's video game music landscape. Immerse yourself in the serene melodies of Stardew Valley, the innovative compositions of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, the exhilarating beats of Trombone Champ, and the epic scores of God of War.
