Welcome to my self-paced poetry skills class designed for 6th graders. 🌿Each lesson will cover various aspects of comprehending, interpreting, and analyzing poetry. 🖊️Learners will also develop figurative language skills for crafting their poetry. 💻This course includes teaching poetry forms, context, nature vocabulary, using sensory language, and writing an Ode. 🥽Virtual Reality exploration will enhance the understanding of nature in poetry. This course will include the 6th grade Common Core standards for poetry focus on citing textual evidence, identifying themes, analyzing word choice and structure, and producing clear, coherent, and well-developed writing.

In a virtual reality lesson, learners will explore different poetry types, examining their distinct characteristics. As they take virtual field trips to landscapes that have inspired ballads and haikus.
Lesson 2:
Nature Vocabulary
In this virtual reality lesson, learners delve into how vocabulary and figurative language can elevate and enrich a poem's meaning. They embark on virtual field trips to awe-inspiring natural environments to inspire their own poems.
Lesson 3:
Invoking the Senses
In this virtual reality lesson, students delve into how incorporating imagery of the five senses can enhance the interpretation of a poem. They embark on a virtual journey to the Thames River, reflecting on how the surroundings would impact their senses.
Lesson 4:
Exploring the Wonders of Nature
During this virtual reality lesson, students will enhance their poetry abilities by studying how writers incorporate sensations and emotions into poems.

This class will use Nearpod, a web based app which learners will access via a link. Learners will not need to setup an account or create a login.
