Class Experience

Nine missions to complete for young explorers who are curious about the world.

Nine videos and small booklets with information about what the mission is and examples of different ways to showcase the results of their work.

Each mission will be fun and promote different aspects of learning (math, reading, creativity, research, storytelling, goal setting)

1. Do some research and figure why we celebrate a specific holiday. For example 4th of July or Memorial Day.

2. Find ten different yellow things.
One must be something we humans eat.
One must have a strong smell
One must be heavy

3. Go to the library and read a fairytale Write, draw or record a review or synopsis.

4. Use building blocks or a building game or draw a famous building. A list of examples of famous buildings will be in the classroom.

5. Measure and draw your room, house or garden and calculate the area.

6. Go exploring around your neighborhood and “collect” sensory impressions (sounds, smells, colors, shapes, touch).

7. Use the sensory impressions from week six and tell, draw or write a story about an animal exploring your neighborhood.

8. Bake or cook something using a family recipe.

9. The last mission is to create something that will showcase your summer, fall or winter. It can be a story, a collage, a video, a painting etc.

Please post your completed missions in the Outschool classroom or, if you like, send them in a message to me.

Teacher expertise and credentials
In my creative writing classes, I encourage students to draw from their experiences and thoughts to create unique pieces and share my passion for writing. This passion has been recognized with four awards for a short story and three poems, which I hope will inspire your students.

I am an immigrant from Sweden with a master's degree in education from Lund/Malmö University.
I am dedicated to forming connections with my students and customizing my teaching to suit their age. I aim to challenge my students while ensuring they never feel like failures. Patience, humor, and kindness are paramount in my approach.

As a teacher, I foster critical thinking through various activities such as research and discussions. The most rewarding part of my job is igniting my students' joy of learning and nurturing their curiosity about the world.

I believe in incorporating play into my teaching whenever possible, as I believe that everyone, regardless of age, has a playful side.

I have previously taught social and political science, religion, and geography and have nearly 25 years of experience working with children of different ages.

My diverse interests include folklore, photography, nature, books, and history, particularly on overlooked historical figures. I hope to share these interests with your students, sparking their curiosity and broadening their horizons.

I eagerly look forward to having your student in my class and am excited to embark on this learning journey together!
