Did you know that a group of jellyfish is called a swarm, a bloom, or a smack? Many jellyfish are bioluminescent. They emit light to attract prey or distract predators. In the ocean, bioluminescence is not as rare as you might think. In fact, most types of animals, from bacteria to sharks, include some bioluminescent material. In this 12 week course we will explore the coral reefs around the world and discover dangerous sea creatures, giant squids and bioluminescent marine life. Students will also unearth the mysteries of the Mariana Trench, discover how the medical community use Horseshoe crabs, mouth breeding fish and more. This class is a fun way to explore science. Through teacher led demonstrations, discussion, pictures, and worksheets students will examine why and how to identify marine life, ocean characteristics, life cycles, adaptations, as well as ocean conservation. The goal of this course is for students to explore and gain a greater appreciation for planet Earth and its processes. ** Same class and same content just pay each week. https://outschool.com/classes/marine-biology-sharks-dolphins-whales-and-other-creepy-creatures-of-the-ocean-NdDcCqsw?sectionUid=f5c00554-9ae3-44cd-b305-9344892b24f7&showDetails=true Some topics that we will cover: - Ocean Zones (hands on project) - Mysteries of the Mariana Trench - Sea Creatures of the Intertidal Zones (hands on project) - Coral Reef Animals - Fish mouth / tail shapes...
