US Grade 4 - 6
In this one-time geography class, we will explore Canada. This class is a sample class from my ongoing class Explore Our World: Country of the Week. We will begin with an overview of where Canada is in the world, and students will locate the country on a map. We will discuss population, languages spoken, and a quick history of the country, before diving into a slideshow of some of the country's natural highlights and city sights. We will share some weird facts Canada, including meeting Canada's mythical lake monster. The class will conclude with each learner sharing three of their top facts about the country. The class will be presented as a slideshow and during the slideshow, learners will be asked to keep some notes so that they are able to share their top three facts at the end. A handout is provided to help learners arrange their notes. Learners will be encouraged to discuss the country during the final 5-10 minutes of class, sharing what they learned. This class will help develop note-taking skills and critical thinking skills. Learners who enjoy this one-time class are encouraged to check out my ongoing weekly class that covers a new country each week.
Learning Goals
Students will learn some basic information about Canada while practicing their note-taking skills.
