Welcome to the watercolor fundamental flex class!
In this class we will be learning watercolor fundamentals, explore our creativity, navigate perfectionism, and learners will create two projects showcasing their unique art style and watercolor knowledge.

Who is this class for? Beginner to intermediate.
This class is for the absolute beginner who wants to build a solid watercolor foundation and for the learner wanting to strengthen their knowledge. This class is especially good for those learners that have been teaching themselves, but now want to be guided in their learning journey while still having the flexibility to work at their own pace.

How will the class work?
This class will NOT meet live. Instead I will be posting videos for each lesson. You are welcome to watch the videos as often as you need. The videos will be released each week. I will be checking in each week.

I will posting questions related to the videos. Learners will be expected to leave a comment or question. I will be replying to comments and questions during M-F 10 am to 5pm pacific standard time and will observe all US holidays. Outside of those days/hours I will not be available.

Once we get to practicing techniques and projects learners will have the opportunity to share their painting privately to me or to the class. Each learner gets to decide what feels most comfortable for them.
If a learner is commenting on another learner’s work please remember to be courteous and provide feedback that is encouraging or constructive criticism.

What if my learner needs extra support such as a one-on-one in addition to the flex class?
If they have questions relating to class they will need to message me or post in the classroom page. If a learner feels they need to ask questions in a live setting the parent will need to message me and I will send a link to a private session for an additional fee. I live in the US in pacific standard time, if you are in a different part of the world please be flexible in your request.

Classes: (You don’t need to have your materials when you start class! We will go over materials week 1 allowing learners to learn about best supplies. You will need materials for Week 2 and on.)

Week 1: Materials, using a brush, and water control
I will share with your learner all about the various types of materials available for watercolor. I will provide you with the list of the essentials. However, I want my learners to be well informed so I will go over various types of supplies that they could potentially use if they choose to.
We will also go over how to properly use watercolor brushes and the care. We will also go over proper water control when painting.

Week 2: Color theory
Learners will learn color theory. In this class learners will be learning not just how to mix red and blue to make purple, but how colors work together. This will benefit them not just in their watercolor journey but in other mediums such as acrylic painting, design, fashion, etc.

Week 3: Watercolor techniques and florals
In this week we will cover 4 watercolor techniques and variations of these techniques. In this class learners will learn not just how to make the techniques but why they are important and how they can be used to create! Additionally learners will learn how to make loose watercolor flowers. They will learn various flowers and leaves. This will allow them to practice the watercolor techniques that they learned the previous week.

Week 4: Discussion on style, perfectionism, and tapping into your creative intuition!
We will discuss what art style is and how to honor your own style. We will also discuss perfectionism and how it can help or hinder us when we create. Lastly we will learn how to tap into our creative intuition!

Greetings, learners and families!

I'm teacher Nazaret (pronounced nah-sah-reht), and I'm thrilled to be a part of the Outschool community. I officially joined Outschool in 2022, in the late fall of 2022 I embarked on my journey as a dedicated Outschool educator. Although my journey with Outschool is relatively fresh, my experience in teaching extends far beyond this platform.

With a rich educational background, I hold a BA degree in Psychology and an MA in Education-Counseling. My teaching experience encompasses a diverse range of learners, spanning from the littlest learners all the way to adult learners. My expertise lies not only in imparting essential life skills like career exploration, time management, and personal responsibility, but also in nurturing creativity through captivating mediums like painting and art journaling.

I'm more than an educator; I'm an artist with a vibrant creative journey. My passion flows through mixed media, acrylic, watercolor, and oil painting. Nature is my muse, and I often find myself wandering through arboretums, capturing its beauty through my lens. This love for photography finds its way into my artwork, enriching the creative tapestry that defines my style.
You can explore my artistic creations not only in the form of original pieces but also across an array of products like prints and stickers.

My creative exploration isn't confined to my personal pursuits. I extend my artistic wisdom to the realm of education, offering adult watercolor courses to both individuals and corporate groups. This holistic approach to teaching enables me to instill artistic skills while fostering personal growth and expression.

I'm not only fluent in both English (US) and Spanish (Mexico), but I'm also bicultural, embracing the unique nuances of each language and culture.

My teaching philosophy resonates with my own journey as a learner. Each learner carries a treasure trove of knowledge, and together, we uncover the gems within. I believe in nurturing confidence, particularly among introverted learners. I understand the challenge of stepping into the spotlight, and I'm committed to creating a comfortable space where learners can grow at their own pace. Whether it's camera breaks, voice alternatives, or personalized instruction, I collaborate closely with parents and learners to ensure a supportive and effective learning environment.

What do I aspire for my learners to gain from my classes? Three core pillars:

1. **Knowledge**: Bridging gaps, strengthening understanding, and embracing new knowledge.
2. **Confidence**: Empowering learners to believe in their abilities and fostering growth through self-assurance.
3. **Support**: Fostering a sense of co-creation and collaboration, making each learner an essential part of the educational journey.
