A passionate, seasoned, fun gently fully qualified and certified English teacher with a single aim. I want to show your learner how they can up-level their writing, whilst taking risks in a safe place. This class size will be small to ensure sufficient interaction with students, the opportunity to provide feedback and sharing moments for your learner. This is a fun, structured engaged writing class, where the learner will be able to choose their own personal moment to explode, however I will also provide topic choices, and examples of boring paragraphs, with model answers to help inspire your learner. This class is an opportunity to see how your learner will learn new skills and enjoy the class, further classes will follow. Writing is often boring, dull and lacks detail. Learner's sometime struggle to make more of their writing, either due to lack of idea's or confidence. In this ongoing course, we shall take a boring piece of writing, and explode the moment to expand your learner's writing. Expanding or exploding the moment is all about the use of: Imagery Sensory Language Detail Description Zooming in or zooming out of a moment Using adverbial phrases Expanded noun phrases Reducing the use of boring words Figurative Language Sentence order and importance of message Revealing and emphasising the key explosive moment cleverly and slowly for impact Inference and clues Most importantly, for example, you might find a sentence like, “It was so embarrassing,” or “He shot the winning goal,” where you've got an important moment that you could expand. I will show your learner how to highlight that sentence and then expand that moment into a full paragraph, explode it, (but without the grenade or bomb). In this ongoing class learners can drop in and drop out as they wish, as there is no prior knowledge is needed. Week 1 - Creative Writing Prompts - Zooming in on the moment then exploding. Week 2 - A Personal Narrative - exploding the moment using figurative language. Week 3 - A Journey In Time - exploding the moment using adverbial phrases. Week 4 - A Letter Revealing A Secret - using clues, inference and emphasising the key moment slowly. Week 5 - An Explosive Speech - using language features with a powerful explosive message. Week 6 - Fake News - manipulating direct speech, quotes, facts, opinion and statistics to explode the point. Week 7 - In Someone else's shoe's - playing with perspective and shifting the view. Week 8 - In Hot Water - An inventive plan that goes unexpectedly wrong. Week 9 - An Insight into the future - Making bold predictions. Week 10 - An adventure Into the past - using descriptive language to create a vivid scene. This ongoing course will be formatted and structured and fun. I will provide discussion boards, example texts, questions and answer's, mini debates, and sharing opportunities for those that wish to share. Learner's will be encouraged to submit their work for personalised feedback, hints and tips.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello and thank you for stopping by to find out a little more about me, although I am more interested in you! I am from London and live in Buckinghamshire in a rural countryside setting. I love the peace and tranquillity of nature and the outdoors.
I have always had a passion for English, ever since I was a little girl and a fantastic teacher inspired me to read and imagine that anything was possible. Fast forward many years, that dream of becoming an English teacher turned into reality for that little girl that spent hours reading and imagining different worlds.
I graduated from Birkbeck University in London, having taken a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature. I studied everything from Shakespeare through to early 18th Century American Literature. I literally found my calling, I then went to achieve my PGCE equivalent Cert Ed in Education, where I qualified to teach young people aged 14+. In addition to this, I have been a private tutor for children ages 7+ for nearly a decade.
I love working across all age groups, as my approach to learning is both flexible and creative.
The most rewarding thing about my work, is my ability to connect with young people that do not believe in themselves. Teaching English, whether coaching to pass exams, or simply to improve written work or read for meaning, or to develop a hunger for exploring texts, is seeing ‘the moment’, the young person connects with what they are trying to achieve.
So, when I am not teaching, I love to walk my 2 dogs, cook or binge watch TV on Netflix.
If there is not something I offer, please just ask, and I will happily VA VA VOOM it up for you.
