Do you know how to write a paragraph that your reader can SEE? In this class, learners will enjoy a short lesson about WHY using vivid language and clear transitions is crucial to solid writing. Learners will be given the opportunity to compare paragraphs and determine which ones are strong and vivid! Learners will be provided with time in class to practice fixing boring sentences and paragraphs with more vivid language and transitions. By the end of this fun class, learners will have tools that they can use at home or at school to ensure that they continue to write vividly! Day 1: - Teacher and Student Introductions -Lesson on WHY it is important to use vivid language in our writing and transitions -Examples of different paragraphs and sentences to compare Day 2: - Brainstorming vivid nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, etc. - Students will practice fixing boring sentences using the ideas we brainstorm Day 3: -Practice EXPLODING a paragraph together using the information learned from the previous classes Day 4: -Students will be given a boring paragraph to EXPLODE with vivid language. While this class will be mostly independent work time, I will offer as much or as little support as needed by each student -Students will be encouraged to send me their completed paragraphs after class for feedback.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Christina, and I'm excited to offer various classes in Forensic Science, Criminal Justice, Fitness and Exercise Education, and Dog Training! Keep a look out for new classes to get posted!
I have worked as an ESL Teacher for 6 years, and I hold a TESOL Certificate! I will be offering a variety of English grammar and composition courses perfect for all students, including ESL students!
I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Forensic Behavioral Analysis, graduating magna cum laude. Since my graduation in 2006, I have worked to remain up-to-date and informed on the ever-changing field of Criminal Justice. I create and offer homeschool Forensic Science courses in our community because I'm passionate about the field. I am passionate about teaching students about the vastly different ways to be involved in our criminal justice system and helping dispel the many myths created by the very entertaining crime dramas!
I hold an active nationally accredited personal training certification through NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine, and I look forward to educating and helping students learn more about exercise science and consider Personal Training as a career path that they may want to follow!
I strive to give your child a classroom environment that fosters learning and discussion. My classes will include hands-on learning or interaction whenever possible because I believe this is the best way to create a passion for learning! I will guide students in meaningful discussions about what they are learning and how the field can be improved. I love helping students ENJOY learning. I strive to make learning typically "boring" subjects like grammar exciting and fun! We all learn best when we are having fun!
I homeschool my own children, currently 16 and 13 years old. I thoroughly enjoy seeing the spark to learn fostered with my own children and the children I have in my classes. In my free time, I love training my 3 -year old Great Dane puppy and 4-year-old German Shepherd! We have taught the pups tricks like puppy push-ups, spinning, rolling-over, and many more! I love sharing about my dogs in class, and I typically have pictures or videos to share with my students! In the fall, you will find me cheering on my favorite college football team, the University of Georgia Bulldogs!
