Class Experience

US Grade 6 - 9
Beginner Level
Worried about the upcoming school year? I can help.

Advocacy is the practice of supporting or negotiating for a cause.
This class will teach you to advocate for yourself with teachers and other educators.
We will go over when and how to advocate, when to bring in your caregiver (parent, guardian, etc) for help, and when to escalate issues beyond your teacher.

Start the school year with confidence

Learners will get copies of course notes and 20 templates or editable scripts that can be used to advocate for a variety of common issues

Teaching methods include lecture, slides, class discussion, Q and A
Learners may share their own relevant experiences if they wish but this is not required
Learners may offer positive feedback and encouragement on others’ experiences
Bullying, judging, shaming, etc will not be tolerated

My teaching style is eclectic and learner-driven. As such, the topics we cover in class may shift.

Learning Needs
This class is specifically designed to support learners who struggle with Executive Functioning Skills, whether due to neurodivergence or other causes. All learners are welcome.
Parental Guidance
This is a class on advocacy so situations in which advocacy is needed will be discussed. I will use carefully selected examples in class. If time allows, learners may choose, but will not be required, to share their own relevant experiences. These experiences may be challenging for some learners to hear about. I will redirect or end a discussion if needed. Please reach out to me directly if you have any questions.
