US Grade Kindergarten - 3
Each week in this ongoing course, learners will explore the life and world of a new single arthropod; we will cover vocabulary words and meaning, life cycle, ecology, morphology and more that make the world of each arthropod so fascinating. As with many of my classes, learners will interact with myself and each other to develop critical thinking. Presentation slides with visuals and short video clips will help support discussion as learners are brought into the learning process. Comprehension checks are provided in the form of light hearted games at the end of class to review information. Learners will also be given the opportunity to try and draw each insect during the lesson. Class will be scheduled once per week. Once the end of the alphabet is reached, classes will restart at A. Please note that topics may change due to current events or learner requests. ***Additionally, a few sections are off schedule by a week or so. Hello! I offer learners the opportunity to dig deep into the fields of entomology, greenhouse growing, and academic writing.
I have a bachelors in Biological Sciences and a diploma in Greenhouse Technology. I have been teaching for over 5 years and I have experience both in the classroom and online. I’m a former college Entomology instructor, turned homeschool mother, cookie decorator, online ESL teacher and academic writing tutor. I have a passion for quality, meaningful learning that I bring to any age group or intellectual level.
I believe teaching should be fun, engaging and interactive. I stand by the idea that students learn best in an environment that allows them the freedom to explore, be creative and think critically.
Personally, I enjoy hiking, reading, and baking artistic treats. I also run a small cookie business.
You will find my personality, experiences and interests sprinkled into each lesson as I strive to relate and stay relevant to students. I look forward to welcoming you into my classroom.
