Engage in primary document analysis and learn to approach historical texts as a historian. Develop your skills of analysis and critical thinking. This is a hands-on practical workshop teaching students the skills they need to approach primary documents. Primary documents are key to any historical study. Students will learn the difference between secondary and primary documents, how to evaluate bias and point of view in these documents, and how to take into account reliability and credibility in a course. We will practice and discuss in class how to approach a wide variety of sources. These skills are important to any study of history, as well as any research project a student might encounter.
