Intermediate Level
This class directly targets essay writing meeting Common Core and TEKS standards! This class is designed to make essay writing less intimidating by breaking down the steps and using a formula that works for any essay. We will respond to a prompt as a class, learning: -How to use the prompt to respond in essay format -How to build a strong thesis statement -How to structure introduction, body, and conclusion paragraphs -Revision and editing techniques as time allows I will demonstrate the format for both typed and hand-written essays, and students will be able to complete the model essay by typing or writing it out by hand. ***I love working with groups! Supply List
If your learner is hand-writing their model essay, they will need lined paper to write on and something to write with (I recommend a pencil). If they prefer to type, they may use Google Docs, Microsoft Word or similar program of your choice.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Hello! I am Miss Nicole and I teach English language arts, and reading. I earned my BA in English with a minor in French in 2006, and my certifications include Core Subjects (ELAR, Science, Math, and Social Studies) grades 4-8 and English as a Second Language.
