Class Experience

This is a conversation course. Students will practice speaking, asking questions, debating topics from current events, school life, hobbies, and culture. I will present prompts and questions 24 hours before each class meeting. Learners should attend class ready to

Lead one section of the discussion
Share a prepared response
Ask thought-provoking questions of speakers

Typical Class Schedule

1. Brief introductions
2. A student leader is named for section one.
3. Student One presents a response to the week's first prompt. I will offer immediate feedback on grammar, syntax, word choice, and pronunciation.
4. Students may ask questions of the first speaker, and he or she will have time to reply.
5. A student leader is named for section two.
6. Student Two presents a response to the week's second prompt. I will offer immediate feedback on grammar, syntax, word choice, and pronunciation.
7. Students may ask questions of the second speaker, and he or she will have time to reply.

The primary goal is for students to use English to present opinions, discuss views, ask and answer questions while socializing with other teens. This will be a student lead group but I will offer guidance, feedback, and correction as needed so students improve fluency, build vocabulary, and develop confidence in their English skills while interacting with other teens who share an interest in English language learning.
