In this one-time class, your learner will be given a news article to read out loud based on real current events. I will be using a news article site that has simplified content so that your learner is not overtaxed with highly advanced language that is too far above their current level. The idea is to stretch your learner's current vocabulary, but give them content that they will still be able to understand. My teaching style is patient, kind, and interactive. I want my classes to feel like a safe-space for students to be able to grow, and make mistakes without fear of judgement. Though each class should help to advance students in their comprehension, and ability to discuss increasingly complex topics, I truly believe that learning English should be FUN! Because of this belief, I want to choose news topics that are truly engaging and stimulating for your learner, so that they feel like they're getting to explore an interesting topic/news event during each class. Learning English should NOT just be about drilling and memorization. If content is inherently interesting, it will motivate learners to want to keep going!
Learning Goals
This is a very good class for developing multiple skill-sets including pronunciation, reading comprehension, vocabulary, and conversation skills.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello everybody!
I’m an enthusiastic 29 year old English tutor, currently living in the city of Toronto, Canada. It would be my pleasure to help your child improve their confidence, and prepare for an education or future career in the English language.
Is your child looking to improve their social skills, public speaking skills, desiring to make friends, or want to prepare for their first job interview? Consider registering for my classes! I also have experience helping students with their pronunciation, grammar, and Business English. At this time I’m able to offer lessons for students from levels from A2 up to C2 in grammar.
In my time as an ESL educator, I have worked with over 1000 students from countries such as Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey, Brazil, China, Japan, and Korea. It has been my pleasure to work with students of many different backgrounds, with different needs, and at different levels of English. I have taught small children, teens, adults, and even some more advanced in years.
I also have years of experience as a professional actor in the film and television industry. This trained me to have very strong communication skills, gain experience speaking and performing in front of an audience, and stay professional in high pressure environments. I was able to work on major productions for companies such as Netflix and Disney XD. I would be more than happy to bring the knowledge, experience, and skills acquired in this industry to help your child to improve their confidence, communication skills, and ability to stay relaxed in high pressure environments that require public speaking or performance.
In our classes, I hope to supply your child with a healthy balance of new language acquisition (whether that be of pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, or another area) with plenty of hands-on practice! As an educator, I believe in ‘learning by doing’. Your learner should have the opportunity in each class to apply what they’ve learned in applied activities or conversations, not just get lectured at for 30 minutes. Therefore, in classes I strive to facilitate students’ learning of new material with speaking exercises such as role-playing, opinion sharing, and discussing the topic being studied in their context of their own lives.
One thing about me is that I really enjoy other cultures and languages! I’ve visited a number of countries such as France, Spain, Netherlands, Egypt, Italy, America, Jamaica, Belgium, and Germany, and would like to visit more!! I also really enjoy other languages; I have studied Arabic, and French. Currently I can say a variation of ‘Hello, how are you?’ in at least ten different languages.
A little about me: I love languages!! I'm at an intermediate level in Arabic, I studied French for years, and have enjoyed picking up words and phrases in languages such as Portuguese, Spanish, Korean, Chinese, Hindi, and Persian.
انا ياحب لخة العربي
I’m also a born-again Christian, and am passionate about my faith. I often read the Bible, pray, and love to sing worship songs.
Thank you for taking the time to check out my profile!
