Class Experience

This is an ongoing club where learners can meet each week and learn English whilst also learning new acting skills. We learn English through acting, drama, dance and theatre games! We will cover different subjects and methods each week. Everything will be done in a fun, playful and relaxed classroom setting. This will be a place for learners to come each week and share their passion with their new friends. All levels and experience are welcome. All you will need is your imagination!

This class is for immersion and conversation English only. There will be no spelling, grammar or reading practice.

We will perform the same warm up each week so learners can get to know it and improve. These exercises can be remembered and used between and after classes. This way learners will then have several learned exercises to draw upon and use as they wish.

The class structure will be like this:

3 min - Greetings and chit chat
5 min - Warm up games for body, voice and imagination.
10 mins - Focusing on todays topic. The subject will be taught with various exercises, games, activities.
2 mins - Wiggle Break! A quick game to break up the lesson. (My favourite is Simon Says)
7 mins - A final exercise for todays topic.
3 mins - Goodbyes and chit chat. :)

Parents and caregivers: Please ensure your learner has enough space to freely move around. Their arms should not touch anything when stretched out. All movement can be done in one spot.

****Most importantly we will have fun!****

*I am fully qualified to teach English as a Foreign language and hold a 120 hour TEFL certificate*

Each week we will focus on something new from this list but students can join at any time. We will cover:

Week 1 – Sep 27: Learning about hobbies through movement exercises.
Week 2 – Oct 4: Learning about Feelings and Emotions through improvisation.
Week 3 – Oct 11: Learning about Animals through guided imagery.
Week 4 – Oct 18: Learning about characters and speaking with movement exercises.
Week 5 - Oct 25: Learning about seasons, months and weather through visualisation exercises.
Week 6 – Nov 1: Learning about family through improvisation games and guided imagery.

The class runs for 6 weeks at a time with a break in the middle then a new section starts again at week 1.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello. My name is Samantha and I love teaching! I have 5 years teaching experience and now 9 months teaching online experience. I have taught performing arts at two different schools and also worked for 1 year as a children's entertainer at a summer holiday camp.

My main passion in life is performing arts of all kinds! I have a BA in Theatre and it is what I have always loved to do. I have worked as an actress/dancer on the South Coast of England and in London for over 15 years. My main acting niche is contemporary theatre, musical theatre, pantomime and cabaret. I have worked in other areas in my adult life including customer service and banking. However, performing and being creative through movement is at the heart of everything I do. This includes my online ESL classroom where I enjoy a fun, playful and active learning style. My students seem to engage with me because I am having fun and they want to be a part of that too! I have the most experience teaching ages 3-12 but more recently I have really enjoyed connecting with teens and young adults to try to inspire them (to be honest, they really do inspire me!)

I will be teaching performance and acting classes. I enjoy pantomime and cabaret so much so would love to offer some fun classes where learners can get involved and feel like we are all in a performance together! I enjoy storytelling so I am also offering some fun read along classes where learners can use their reading skills and imaginations.

My other main hobby is gaming! I have been a gamer since I was 5 years old and still game everyday now. I have a Playstation, Nintendo Switch and a gaming PC. I fully believe that a healthy amount of gaming can really improve problem solving skills.
