In this session students will work together to figure out clues, crack a variety of codes and use various logic and problem solving skills in order to solve the mystery and find out who committed the murder. Students will begin the class with a list of suspects and a number of codes and problems that they will need to crack to reveal messages from the five witnesses to the murder telling them information about the murder and the suspects. These codes will then allow them to eliminate suspects from their list until the final code which will provide the last clue and reveal who the murderer is. This class requires students to work as a team, discuss their ideas, listen to other students, and come to agreements. In addition to this they will work on using co-ordinates, grid referencing, numerical and alphabetical codes, logic puzzles, and word clues. The class time allocated is 90 minutes students may crack it in less than 90 minutes in which case the class might take a little less time. I have allowed 90 minutes but parents please note that this is variable and depends on how long the students take to crack the clues. If the class finishes prior to the allocated 90 minutes no refunds or discounts will be offered as parents sign up in the knowledge that this is a class time dependent on when the students complete the tasks. Prior to the lesson the suspect list will be posted in the classroom. It would be very useful for the students to have this list printed out and available as a hard copy during the lesson.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi there,
I am Laura, a teacher living and working in England. I have been a teaching for 18 years and love working with children.
I initially did a BA honours in English literature and then took another year at university to train as an English teacher. I then worked in a number of different high schools and one middle school teaching English, Drama, and Media studies to students aged between 9 and 18. I also tutor students privately in my own home. I have a 12 year old son of my own and we especially enjoy working together on writing projects.
I am very excited to work with young people online and offer exciting and engaging lessons in my specialist subjects.
I am particularly enthused by teaching creative writing in all its forms and am a writer myself.
My lessons are lively and fun and activities are varied to allow for a variety of learning styles.
I look forward to meeting you all and hope to engage and inspire!
