Learners are assessed with formative assessments so the teacher can see their progress as the weeks continue along.Class Experience
You are the first mate on Captain Blue Beard the Dreaded’s ship sailing on a secret treasure hunt. The captain was a good captain, but VERY secretive. Only HE knew the information necessary to find the treasure. He assured everyone that you were getting very close to the treasure, and would find it TONIGHT. However, these were his last words to the crew. He fell overboard during the storm, and was swallowed by the deep, and sent to Davy Jones's Locker. The crew is getting extremely upset because they came all this way for treasure, and now it is up to YOU to figure it out! Now, you, as the first mate, need to discover the location of the treasure in the Captain’s quarters soon, or else your crew might throw YOU overboard! Time is running out! Do you like Escape Rooms? Then you've come to the right place! In this class, learners will get to complete TWO virtual escape rooms at their own pace, and compare their progress with others! New Escape Rooms will be posted to the classroom Bi-Weekly. During the following week after the Escape room is posted, there will be discussions posted for learners to interact with each other and the teacher, options to ask questions, request additional "hints," and for learners to share their progress with the class! Week 1: FIRST Escape Room Posted: This week is all about their own exploration within the room and seeing if they can solve it on their own. Week 2: Discussion/Questions/Hint Posts For Escape Room 1: This week is for learners to either post their progress to the class (no spoilers though!!), or for learners who get stuck to ask questions, and give/receive hints from the teacher or other players! Week 3: SECOND Escape Room Posted: By the third week, learners should have the previous Escape Room solved, and will now be given a second Escape Room to work on independently during the week without any additional hints. Week 4 (Final Week): Discussion/Questions/Hint Posts For Escape Room 2: This week is for learners to either post their progress with Escape Room 2 to the class (no spoilers!!), or for learners who get stuck to ask questions, and give/receive hints from the teacher or other players! **These Escape rooms are NOT designed to be timed, due to the difficulty of the puzzles, and the focus on problem solving, but if your learner would like to time themselves, then they absolutely can!**
Learning Goals
Students will use problem solving skills and computer navigation skills to solve riddles, answer questions, and gain clues to TWO different escape rooms.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
There is nothing scary about this escape room. However, there is a cartoon image of a virtual knife that the students need to "collect" for a clue. There is nothing violent about the use of the knife or why it is there, it is just a tool used to solve a puzzle.
Supply List
Students can only access the Escape Rooms via a laptop or tablet and the Escape Rooms cannot be accessed on a mobile device.
