Class Experience

In this immersive, interactive Digital Escape Room Challenge, learners will be wandering through King Tutankhamun"s tomb within The Valley of the Kings. It may be fascinating to discover an Egyptian Pharaoh's tomb with prized possessions. However, the secret pathway that led you to the tomb, may not be the way out! Learners will have to decode messages, solve puzzles, encounter obstacles, and utilize their memorization skills to escape before they become permanently trapped inside King Tut's tomb. You do not want to become mummified like King Tut!! The Digital Escape Room will utilize an application called nearpod. Learners will have access with a digital link to make the experience more immersive, yet still paced and overseen by the instructor. After unlocking 5 locks, a secret message will be revealed to grant you the ability to find a pathway out of the tomb.
No prior knowledge of Ancient Egypt or King Tutankhamun is needed to successfully escape. Learners will need to be able to navigate through the nearpod software, but the instructor will be able to support and guide the learner through a shared screen.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! I have been teaching for 10 years. I started out as a museum educator at a whaling museum. There, I taught ages preschool to senior citizens on a wide variety of topics. My students and I have explored the history of whaling, nautical navigation, ocean sciences, dinosaur fossils, erupting volcanoes, and even made slime! We would discover new vocabulary and extraordinary facts through the use of real artifacts, experiments, games, and a craft.

While teaching at the museum, I also received a Bachelor's Degree in Child Study enabling to teach general education and special education from birth to grade 6. In the classroom setting, I have taught preschool and grades 2-5. With my passion for science from being a museum educator, I was also a science teacher for one year for grades 2,3, and 4. Here at Outschool, I plan on diving into ocean sciences with you and exploring the dark depths of creatures you didn't even know existed!

When I became an Emergency Medical Technician for my local fire department, I received a Master's Degree in Health Education for Kindergarten to 12th grade. Fire rescue and emergency medical services is a fascinating world that I hope to teach you all about here at Outschool! We will investigate how firefighters conquer fires, discover different types of fire and medical rescues, and inspire you about how your local community helpers are heroes!

Lastly, I am excited to share with you how to effectively win an argument supporting either side of an ethical controversy. I have attended two regional ethic bowls and taught my own debate team to 6th-8th graders. You will experience new and different viewpoints on various topics and then utilize strategies to prove a particular ethical standpoint.

Learning should be fun, engaging, interactive, and student centered. Building upon students' interests, needs, and curiosities fosters a love for learning. I hope to inspire and be inspired by others of the unlimited treasures waiting to be explored and shared. It all starts with you exploring those curiosities!

I live in the United States. Originally from New York, but I now live in Florida. I have two dogs, a Great Dane and Golden Retriever. I live minutes away from Walt Disney World and I completely obsessed with anything Disney. Lastly, I enjoy being creative with either painting or wood burning
