Class Experience

Welcome to Albert Mansion!

You received a mysterious invitation to an ominous mansion. Upon arrival, you enter the code received on the invitation, and see a promise of a substantial reward for unlocking each of the secret passages in the mansion before time expires. You will need to problem solve and work with your team to escape this haunted house within an hour before you are trapped inside for ever! Learners will solve a series of ciphers, basic math problems, logic riddles and more as this work to unlock each of the secret rooms in the mansion.

The mansion itself will be a virtual 360° experience with tons of interactive puzzles and surprises. No previous knowledge or printed material will be required for this class. Learners are encouraged to have scrap paper to work out various challenges. Learners will work in breakout rooms to solve a series of timed puzzles. Other challenges will include a cryptogram cipher, logic riddle, a maze puzzle, and other Halloween-themed challenges. Students will search for clues around the mansion to help them escape.

Younger learners will not need to access the virtual room on their own, as the link will be shared on the screen and the teacher will facilitate the virtual room. Learners will not need to create an account or sign up for anything.

***Can be setup for birthdays or private events! Just send a private message to book in advance!***

Parental Guidance
While this is a Halloween escape room, there are no horror or graphic elements involved in this experience. However, this course is recommended for students over the age or 11 as this will need to have access to third party tools, such as Thinglink and Google Forms. The game will also include an embedded puzzle from JigsawPlanet. Students will not need to sign up for an account, nor will they be redirected to another link outside of the game link. Students will just need to have open access embedded link. COPPA Policy for Jigsaw Planet: Our Services are not directed to people under 13. If you become aware that your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us by Contact. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we take steps to remove such information and terminate the child's account. By accessing or using the Services you agree to be bound by these Terms. All content will be under the name of the teacher. COPPA Policy for Thinglink: Safety and privacy are our top priorities. Learners under 13 will need to have Parental Consent when accessing those links to comply with COPPA. Students will be provided with a direct code to access the game link, and will bypass any registration or sign-ins for Thinglink as I have a Professional Teacher License through the service to use the platform as a teaching tool. Therefore, learners will not need to provide any information or sign up for the platform themselves. In fact, students will be provided with a link that restricts them from having to share any personal information or sign in, as the game will appear on their screen without an interface. However, parental consent will be required to comply with COPPA. As per the terms of usage, all students accessing the Service are subject to consent provided via their educator or educational institution, as allowed under COPPA, and will require the use of a unique invitation code supplied by their instructor or education institution in order to create an account or access the platform. Any use or access to the Service by anyone under 13 without Consent, is strictly prohibited and in violation of this Agreement.

Greetings Outschool Family!

My name is Dwitney Bethel! I would describe myself as a vivacious and effervescent free spirit! I am originally from Nassau, Bahamas, but I consider myself a North American, as I spent nearly a decade in both the United States and Canada respectively. Although, of all of the places I have either lived or traveled through, my favorite is by far Japan! There is something timeless and magical about a place that embodies both the past and future at the same time.

I offer both private and public sessions! So if you are looking for afterschool programs, birthday games, or private sessions, feel free to message me with your inquiry.

In terms of my personal experiences, I have a background in History, Creative Writing, and Globalization Studies. I have a Bachelor of Honours in History and Development Studies, an M.A. in Public History, as well as an M.A. in Globalization Studies. I worked as a teaching assistant throughout my graduate studies, and mentored ESL students as well! I had always imagined myself teaching English abroad until I made the decision to become an entrepreneur and work for myself! I recently graduated from a Business and Entrepreneurship program, as I wanted to become a business owner and start my own company. My company offers team building games as well as heritage, tourism and cultural experiences, and that is what I hope to bring here! Therefore, I will offer an array of courses in the upcoming weeks from a very interdisciplinary perspective! I will bring gameshow style classes to traditional subjects such as history, global politics, geography, and anthropology.
I also hope to have some creative writing and book club combination courses dealing with subjects such as Immigration, Minority Studies and Feminine Identity using historical fiction for middle school and young adults. I will also feature some interactive escape room and thriller mystery games sets as well!
I was never a student who could fit into one discipline, as I just had a love and interest in almost everything! Interdisciplinary studies changed my life, and that is the approach I hope to bring here! I hope I can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning.
