Have you ever wanted to learn more about insects? Come join me and investigate insects just like an Entomologist would. We will begin by learning about the job of an Entomologist. We will then be discussing the parts of an insect (head, thorax, abdomen, six legs, and compound eyes) as well as the insect habitats. At the end of the lesson we will create and name our own insects! This lesson will include visuals, singing, discussions, and hands on activities to meet the needs of all learners. I will be showing slides as well as encouraging engaging discussion. No previous knowledge on insects is required.
Learning Goals
Students will learn the parts of an insect, the job of an entomologist (a scientist who studies insects), and create their own insect.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Hello! My name is Jessica! I am currently a second-grade teacher in a public school in Pennsylvania. I have been teaching and working with children for seven years. I earned my Bachelors of Science in Early Childhood Education with a Minor in Special Education in 2015. I also hold a state certification to teach General Education in preschool through fourth grade as well as a Library Science certification to teach kindergarten through 12th grade. In 2018 I earned a graduate certification in Instruction in the 1:1 Environment. I also earned my Masters of Education in Innovation and Technology in 2021.
I strive to meet the learning styles of all of my students. I use many visuals, audio, movements, and hands-on activities to keep my learners engaged and having fun! I teach all subjects, but my favorites are science, social studies, math, and reading. I enjoy getting lost in a good book and want to give children that same love and enjoyment for reading.
I look forward to working with all of you and cannot wait to share my love of learning!
