🧠🩷🤝 In this ongoing class, we will learn explicit skills and strategies to develop a healthy outlook of ourselves and others, and gain self-awareness for stronger social and emotional wellbeing. This class is a variation of my SEL daily class. Once a week short lessons will help students start the day off on the right foot, check in emotionally during the middle of the day, or end their day with reflection. The schedule below shows possible topics for the applicable week. Each lesson is derived from an SEL competency which are repeated throughout the weeks so that your learner will continue to develop these important skills. Your child can join any or all of the sessions. The 5 SEL competencies: +Self-Awareness +Self-Management +Responsible Decision-Making +Relationship Skills +Social Awareness 📅Weekly Schedule: Week of June 3rd Possible Lesson: Identifying Emotions, Managing Emotions, What Would You Do?, Resolving Conflicts Week of June 10th Possible Lesson: Dealing with Fear and Anxiety, Self-Talk, Making Good Choices, How Can I Be a Good Friend? Week of June 17th Possible Lesson: Strengths and Challenges, Steps for Problem-Solving, Appreciation, Apology, Aha!, What's Going On? Week of June 24th Possible Lesson: Compliments, Reflection, Choice, and Possibilities, Active Listening, No Words Week of July 1st Possible Lesson: Growth Mindset, Peer Pressure, Developing Empathy, Creating a Community of Support Week of July 8th Possible Lesson: Thoughts, Actions, Feelings, Why Have Rules?, Connecting Safely, Random Acts of Kindness Week of July 15th Possible Lesson: What Do You Like to Do?, Self Check, Digital Citizenship, Connect with Friends Week of July 22nd Possible Lesson: Make Room for the New, What Should I Do?, Words with Friends, Unpacking Stereotypes Week of July 29th Possible Lesson: Create a Vision Board, I Trust Myself, Compromise!, Team Building, Put a Stop to Bullying Week of August 5th Possible Lesson: Don't Bring Me Down, Motivate Me!, Would You Rather?, Conflict Resolution, Be Part of the Solution ✏️How the lesson is structured: ->Norms: The session begins with a review of the norms for the session. ->Objectives: We then go over the objectives for the session. ->Introduction: This is followed by an introduction that includes a hooking question and explicit instruction. ->Exploration: Learners then explore the concept/strategy on their own. Then follows an interactive discussion where they will talk with each other, role-play, or share their ideas. ->Closing: We close the session by reflecting on the objective and once again discussing their ideas. Teaching Style: These sessions will be presented visually with engaging slides, orally through discussion and instruction, along with interactive discussions, and interactive slides for learners to work on. Learners will connect to the interactive slides through a code given during each session.
