US Grade 4 - 12
This can be a one-time or ongoing private lesson. It will be customized to the student's needs. I will work with the parent and, if needed, student's other teachers to provide extra help with Writing. Some of the topics we can cover are as follows: Annotating (taking notes and writing outlines) Writing With Depth Editing a Composition Student Has Written (one time lesson or ongoing) Grammar and Spelling How to format different kinds of writing (essays, reports, stories, poetry, etc.) Each lesson will be 45-minutes. These are customized lessons and can be different for each student. Here are some of your options: 1. We can work together to improve a composition you have written for another class. For this type of tutoring, we can meet one time or more. 2. Student can pick one book at a time to read. We will use each book to do writing activities such as writing descriptive essays of characters and events and writing outlines. The student will work on editing and revising their writing. We will also work on reading comprehension, recall and reflecting. This is a great option for ongoing tutoring. 3. We can work on weekly writing assignments that you have for other classes. 4. Each week we cover a different writing topic of the teacher's choice. This is a great option to grow as a writer. I will customize the lessons for you so that each week you are learning something new and honing your writing skills.

I love working with kids! I have 14 years of teaching experience, and I have taught in both traditional school settings and as a homeschool parent. I am passionate about helping kids at all levels of their reading and writing journey. It's so exciting when I see a student gain confidence as a reader/writer or when I can help a young aspiring writer achieve their dreams.
My writing experience includes writing copy for marketing materials, ghost writing for corporate executives, technical writing, writing newspaper articles, and writing instructions for digital technology applications. Managing a corporate internal newsletter was one of my favorite projects. I created the newsletter design, interviewed and wrote articles about team members, and managed the editing and submission process for all the contributors. As a hobby, I love to write short stories, poetry, and songs. I can't imagine my life without writing.
My education includes a BA in Communications and a Master of Science in Technical and Professional Communication (MSTPC). Because I have completed 2 years of my BA and all of my MS classes online, I am skilled with the various aspects of online learning. I love using what I have learned to help kids become better at reading and writing.
