US Grade 3 - 6
If you are interested in this course for your student, please send me a message. In this ongoing course, the student will receive 1:1 tutoring with their writing, reading, spelling, vocab. We will discuss what the student needs and address it during class. **Class topics will be based on what is agreed upon between parents and myself. This could include writing: moving from simple to more complex sentences, writing summaries over short stories, working on grammar and punctuation. This could include reading: reading short stories and filling out a 'who, what, when, where, why, how' chart, checking for comprehension, writing summaries, and using the text to provide evidence in answers to questions. This could include spelling: we would go over spelling guidelines beginning with vowel sounds and moving to guidelines that show patterns, trigraphs and quadgraphs. This could also include vocabulary: going over Dolch and Fry words and using them appropriately in a sentence. My goal is to create a meaningful class where students grow in experience and confidence. I hope that students feel comfortable asking questions, and are encouraged in their writing. My hope is to assist students in improving their writing, reading, spelling, and vocabulary. English Language Arts can seem overwhelming. By breaking down the writing process, using some simple tools and outlines, students will find success!
Learning Goals
Learning goals will depend on discussions with parents and what we will be working on in class. Each student may have different learning goals due to the topics covered.
I usually work with the parent to see where their student needs more assistance and we come up with a general plan of action.
