US Grade 3 - 5
In this 1-on-1 ongoing class, students receive individualized writing instruction to boost their essay writing skills from a licensed English Language Arts teacher. Each week we will meet for 55 minutes. During class, we will work reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary skills that students need to succeed in English Language Arts. Below is how a class is generally structured: 1. Greetings and Warm Up (5 minutes) Brief discussion about the student's interests and warm up related to reading passage. 2. Reading Skills (15 minutes) Reading a selected passage together. Discussing key themes, characters, and the main idea of the passage. Answering comprehension questions. 3. Writing Exercise (15 minutes) Introducing a writing prompt related to the reading material. Guiding the student in brainstorming ideas and organizing thoughts. Student writes a short paragraph with instructor support. 4. Grammar Focus (10 minutes) Reviewing essential grammar rules (e.g., sentence structure, punctuation). Interactive exercises to apply these rules in sentences. 5. Vocabulary Building (10 minutes) Introducing new vocabulary words from the reading passage. Engaging in activities like word definitions, synonyms/antonyms, and usage in sentences. 6. Review and Feedback (5 minutes) Reviewing the key points covered in the class. Providing constructive feedback on the student's performance. Suggestions for further practice. This is a 1-on-1 class, so the structure and content can be set up based on the needs and interests of the student. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you have.
