Intermediate Level
The class will meet three times a week. Each class will build on the previous class. The class will be structured using the "I Do...We Do... You Do" format, where I teach the lesson showing examples. We do examples together, and then the students practice on their own to show comprehension. My teaching style is one where I am actively involved. As the students are working, I am monitoring their work to offer suggestions or ideas for improvement. Students will interact with me and their peers by sharing their writings, if they choose, and identifying the major parts of the essay. Students will learn the conventions of Standard English and how to effectively incorporate them into their writing. Students will also learn how to clearly and adequately express their ideas by using many elaborative techniques such as examples and quotations, among others.
