English II Skill Building-Horror Edition
In this 8 week course, we will be gaining skills necessary to succeed in an English II class room. Subject matter will include purposeful annotations, note-taking tips, sentence structure, and test prep.

Beginner Level
Students will be taught in a whole group setting within the genre of horror. We will explore the idea of fear and how authors use words and phrases to provoke emotion. We will discover various sentences structures and phrases to enhance our writing skills. As we develop through the course various videos, films clips, and text will be analyzed through annotation and note-taking strategies. Games will be used for assessment of knowledge.

Hello, my name is Kiara Hurst. I love to teach students where they are emotionally, physically, and intellectually. I have a Bachelors of Arts in Communications Media and a Masters in Education I’m Curriculum and Instruction. I have currently serve as a English II, Intro to Cinema Studies, and Creative Writing teacher in my local school district. Prior to my appointment in the role, I’ve taught both 8th and 9th grade English. I also serve as the Founder of a local nonprofit mentoring organization.
