You will learn many things a good English class would teach, which is rare these days. Colleges make you write papers. That is what you do. That can be much easier if you know correct grammar/punctuation going into it. People who write better speak better for the most part (maybe not me. lol i speak like I live in the country a lot of times) Well I do live in the country. lol -Proofreading and Editing -Paragraphs -Diaglogue -Parts of speech-all 8 parts including, clauses, subjects-subject-verb agreement, synonyms, etc -organization, clarity, logic, sentence structure. -Spell checking -punctuation -Removing details and adding them
I have extensive experience and education in teaching and Writing: -I am an experienced and well-qualified teacher. -I hold a bachelor's degree and have 12 years of experience teaching in both traditional brick and mortar classrooms and online classrooms. -I have been teaching on Outschool for about two years, with successful writing classes and a period of full-time PSAT/SAT prep. I have received formal training in this area, which includes English grammar and punctuation. -I have a passion for combining technology and creativity in the teaching of writing. -Additionally, I am a certified ESL teacher. -I am a writer, and have written a children's book and a published story on my local area.
Homework Offered
Some homework. Not every Lesson. They may need to finish a writing assignment, do editing, do one or more of the interactive assignments at home, draw a picture. Again not often.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class

Some typing skills for Google Docs. A parent to assist at first on how to access Google Docs s, plus Canva, etc if they have trouble with directions at first.
1 file available upon enrollmentMake sure parent, you have read the resources I will use. I need a response from you that I have permission to use these resources. There is a consent form, or you can simply send me a message. Students need to bring their copy of the syllabus to class with them. All other papers, like notes, will be given to them through Canva. They need access to Google Docs and their own FREE CANVA account. If and when we need other resources, I will let you know ahead of time what you need to do. It is best if they have the account ready at first class, but I can help you set it up during the first class as long as there is parental permission. Do not worry; I will not have access to your information. I will share everything through links, not email. They need to know their Canva Login information to stay logged into it. Instructions are on the syllabus for Google Docs and Canva. Anything I need to send parents will be sent through messages Notes and assignments will be sent through Canva at the beginning of class as they need them.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Parental Guidance- I will using Canva for interactive games and activities. You will need a free Canva account. Many kids already have one for school or parent's have one. They will need their own FREE account or if parent doesn't mind, theirs are fine. Kids will need to know login info, but I won't see it. I will share everything by link so will they when needed. Canva is COPPA-compliant and approved by Outschool. Google Docs and Google Slides will be used. I use video from YouTube and Khan Academy, however, I take out ads if there are any. Parental Permission is needed for the creation of Canva account. Implied consent is given if you sign up for this class. You need to create these or have your child do it ahead.
Again, like listed in the parental guidance, I will use Canva.com, YouTube, Google Slides, Google Docs. All monitored by me.
