US Grade 7
Class Description: Dive into "Submarine Design Essentials" where young learners explore the basics of engineering a submarine. From buoyancy and propulsion to life support and navigation, this class introduces the key systems behind submarine technology. Using a mix of short lectures and interactive activities, students will brainstorm and outline what systems they believe are essential for a submarine, laying the groundwork for future exploration. Teaching Style & Interaction: My teaching...
In the "Submarine Design Essentials: An Engineering Adventure" class, students will learn: The key systems necessary for a submarine to operate, including buoyancy control, propulsion, life support, and navigation. How to identify and conceptualize the various components that make up a submarine, focusing on the purpose of each system rather than the technical details of how they work. Creative brainstorming techniques to imagine innovative features and systems that could be included in submarine design. The importance of integrating different systems to ensure the functionality and safety of a submarine. By the end of this session, students will have a broad understanding of the essential systems required for submarine operation, enabling them to think about complex engineering projects in a holistic way.
Worked in the submarine community for 15 years, 10 years as an operator in the US navy and 5 years as an Engineer
Classes I Teach: I lead a creative and engaging class where young learners apply basic engineering principles to design their own imagined submarines. This task encourages critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation, as students work...
