Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
Are you a hands-on and visual learner? Do you enjoy learning through activities and games? If so, this tutoring class might be exactly what you are looking for!

Reading is such an important subject to learn and some concepts can be challenging at first, but practice makes perfect! In this class, students will be practicing their grade level and/or independent reading skills that they are struggling with. These skills might include reading comprehension, decoding, fluency and reading expression. Also, we can work on answering open ended questions with text evidence and detail.

Students will practice these skills through fun activities, games, slides, and/or engaging worksheets. The classroom environment will be very positive, fun and engaging! Each week will be themed to make it even more fun! For example, a snowman theme session might include text about snowmen and snowmen-based reading activities, games and/or crafts. Also, my background or slides may be snowman themed as well!

Before class starts, please be sure to let me know what level your learner currently reads at and what skills you would like your learner to practice. I can help them with grade level skills and/or skills below their grade level that they need more practice with! I will accommodate and modify when needed.

Also, please let me know if you would rather class option A or B. The descriptions of these class options are below.

There are 2 class schedule options:

Option A:
1. Introductions-explanation of what we are doing today and the theme of the day.
2. 30 minutes of either reading comprehension/writing OR decoding (phonics), spelling, sight words, fluency and/or reading expression with lessons and activities
3. Conclusion-explanation of what can be worked on at home throughout the week.

Option B:
1. Introductions-Explanation of what we are doing today and the theme of the day.
2. About 15 minutes of decoding/phonics, sight words, spelling, fluency and/or reading expression lessons and activities.
3. About 15 minutes of reading comprehension/writing lessons and activities
4. Conclusion-explanation of what can be worked on at home throughout the week.

This class can be a one-time tutoring session or an ongoing tutoring session. I can work with your learner once a week or multiple times a week. You can schedule with me for the same time every session or different times. If you would like to request a time or day that is not shown as available, please let me know.

Learning Goals
